In Wimbledon 2013 on Friday, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro put all their energies and made the clash as a quality tennis match in one of the greatest semifinals matches in Men’s draw. Djokovic, former Wimbledon champion and current world No. 1, successfully survived after nearly five hours with 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (6-8), 6-3.However, del Potro gave him everything he could handle, including a booming forehand that consistently clocked in at more than 100 mph.
In the second semifinal, second-seeded Andy Murray battled back from another early hole to win in four sets with 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, setting up a Murray-Djokovic final for the third time in the past four Grand Slam tournaments.
Now the men’s final on Sunday will be played among Murray and Djokovic. Djokovic leads the head-to-head clashes with 11-7 and 3-1 at Grand Slam events. But Murray stood as the winner in their only grass-court meeting at Wimbledon in the Olympics last summer.
On Saturday, Sabine Lisicki and Marion Bartoli will battle in the Wimbledon finals in the run to capture their first major title. While those two deserving women will grab the majority of attention on Saturday, champions will be crowned in both the gentlemen’s and ladies’ doubles as well in what would be recalled as a memorable and entertaining tournament in history.
